SunGard says more than 100 additional customers were on 'alert' following the power cut - the largest number of declarations supported by SunGard at one time, other than following 9/11. The vendor's crisis management team convened shortly after the outage began.

Customers were 'actively recovering' in eight of SunGard's North American facilities, including several facilities in the New York metropolitan area as well as in Philadelphia, Toronto and Chicago.

The vendor provided workstations, computers, phones and network connectivity to enable clients' operations to continue during the outage.
