TSYS to build European data centre

Electronic payments firm TSYS is to build a customised data centre in the UK to serve its European clients and support its expansion throughout the continent.

Site preparation for the purpose-built 53,000 square-foot data centre has begun. The centre is scheduled to be completed and operational by the fourth quarter 2004.

Located in Knaresborough, UK, the new facility will replace TSYS' existing data centre in Harrogate which it currently leases. It will be built on three acres and will contain 15,000 square feet for offices. Additional features include separate machine room, plant block, N+N generator and UPS back-up systems.

TSYS says the building of a data centre from the ground-up demonstrates its commitment to the European markets.

Lester Pulsford, European project leader, TSYS Europe, says clients will receive uninterrupted customer service with increased resilience: "As they transition to the new data centre, their processing business will continue to be handled with the same high-quality, exceptional service."
