Italian bank-owned payments processor Banca Eurosistemi is to use CheckFree's i-Series software platform as the foundation for a new nationwide electronic billing and payments service.
The project is part of the Italian Banking Association's BankPass Bollette initiative. In addition to offering its own e-billing service, Banca Eurosistemi will also provide processing support to online banking portals and all major Italian banks. These new Banca Eurosistemi services, running under the Dinaxer electronic services brand, will allow Italian consumers to view and pay their bills online.
Given the scope of the project, which involves a complex environment of billers, payment portals, front and back-end systems, a need was identified for both an open software platform and the experience to integrate all of this complexity into a working electronic bill presentment and payment model for the Italian market.
