Under the agreement, Fujitsu will guarantee business continuity and provide a single point of contact for hardware and software upgrades to 9000 staff at A&L headquarters and 22 regional offices across the UK. The contract calls for a reduction in downturn with different levels of service tailored for different areas of the business.

Fujitu Services won the contract in a competitive tender, displacing A&L's incumbent supplier of 14-years standing. Fujitsu already has experience of working for A&L in the delivery of infrastructure project services over the past few years.

Russell Simm, group information services director for Alliance & Leicester says: "Fujitsu has demonstrated in the past its ability to meet the high service levels we demand at a competitive price. A reduction in downtime experienced will allow us to support our business users better and make improvements to customer service."
