Part of the project involved enhancing the functionality of Musketeer STP by adding specialist trading instruments, regulatory reporting features and interfaces to external settlement systems. AFA says the improved application will enable the bank to streamline back office operations and will provide full exception management facilities.

Both bank and AFA staff were involved in the first phase of the implementation, which began in January 2003, but bank staff will take over and complete the final phase.

Akira Kurihara, deputy managing director, Norinchukin International, says: "With the completion of the second phase of the implementation, we will achieve STP for our key daily business routines."
