UK cryptographic security software firm nCipher has integrated its payShield Hardware Security Module (HSM) with Orbiscom's Controlled Payment Application Platform to allow acquiring and issuing banks, credit card and payment processing firms to implement MasterCard SecureCode and Verified by Visa initiatives.
The first customer for the combined nCipher and Orbiscom solution is NTT Data Corporation in Japan which has launched a hosted online payments service that allows card issuing banks to implement Verified by Visa without having to develop in-house solutions. The new service uses a password or PIN to validate the cardholder's identity whenever they shop online.
NCipher's payShield solution is applied alongside Orbiscom's platform to protect processes used to encrypt sensitive information, create digital signatures and provide a record of authenticity for transaction and payment authorisation.
