The LME, which turns over more than $2000 billion annually, will use Savvis to support its overall electronic trading and matching operations both at its London headquarters and via 40 remotely located member firms.

Savvis will also provide connections to the London Clearing House and the LME's disaster recovery facilities, as well as host the corporate Web site and provide Managed Internet Services.

Key criteria in the award of the contract was the vendor's ability to host LME's total operations from its data centre located in Reading and demonstrate failsafe levels of network connectivity to over 40 member firms in the City of London.

LME IT manager Steve Mansfield says: "We needed a supplier that could provide a totally outsourced network solution, and do it in a way that supports LME's many diverse roles and business requirements. We didn't want a 'one size fits all' approach. Savvis met all our needs in a highly competitive environment."
