Sumitomo Trust & Banking has used middleware technology from SeeBeyond to connect its back office settlement systems to a centralised hub for payments processing via the interbank Swift network, national Bank of Japan payments network, and FX risk reduction platform CLS.
The bank is using SeeBeyond's eGate Integrator platform to support connectivity between its existing disparate systems and enterprise applications within the new settlement system environment. In addition, the SeeBeyond solution is providing centralised system management, enabling reduced operating load and simplified application extension and maintenance.
A Sumitomo spokesman says the project entailed the replacement of domestic and overseas settlement systems with a new centralised platform able to adapt to regular Swift updates.
The prime contractor on the project was Sumisho Computer Systems.
