Dublin-based e-security vendor Baltimore says its UniCert PKI infrastructure will enable MasterCard to issue and manage digital certificates for member financial institutions.

The MasterCard SecureCode programme verifies cardholder account data and provides authentication for online transactions, helping reduce fraud and the number of related chargebacks.

Denis Kelly, executive VP, global operations, Baltimore Technologies, adds that the programme enables consumers, merchants and banks to engage safely in e-commerce and is an important step for secure online Internet transactions.
