EDS was awarded a contract by the Post Office in March 2002 to provide business process outsourcing services to support the change in the way the government pays benefits, due to take place in April this year.

Pegasystems says it will supply the front-end application for an EDS solution that will provide users with a single window of customer information, allowing them to manage account data, including payment queries, support for lost and stolen cards and PIN numbers and the processing of new accounts.

As part of the implementation, Pegasystems' software will be integrated with existing applications and legacy systems, providing staff with an historic view of a customer account.

In July last year, EDS selected Pegasystems software as one of the business process management platforms for use within the Inland Revenue in the UK.

The UK Post Office recently handed an eight-year contract to Fujitsu to provide computer system upgrades for the delivery of electronic banking services over its national branch network.
