Opex, which will operate outside of European ISD regulations, is to implement Elind's Stride trading and Stride IPO products at its base in Lisbon.

Luis Rodrigues, CEO, Opex, says the exchange was looking for a system that would require minimum customisation, have the flexibility to accommodate new segments and the scalability to allow increased capacity as the business grows.

The exchange aims to go live with an automated marketplace solution during the first half of 2003 and will offer local enterprises, intermediaries and investors trading in equities, bonds, warrants, derivatives, forex contracts and funds.

Elind says Opex is its second exchange customer in Europe.
