US risk management vendor Kamakura Corporation has named Warren Sherman as president and COO and appointed Leonard Matz and Ardi Tavakol as managing director and managing director for client services and installations, respectively.

President and founder of the firm Donald van Deventer retains his CEO title and becomes chairman of the company.

Sherman joined Kamakura in February 2002 as managing director for client services.

He previously worked at Sungard Data Systems' global markets division where he was responsible for the design of the Global Trader and eGlobal Trader sell-side trading application.

Prior to this Sherman was vice president and manager of global trading and distribution systems at First Interstate Bank in Los Angeles and London and also served as assistant treasurer for short term finance at First Interstate Bancorp.

Leonard Matz joined Kamakura in July 2002 as senior vice president. He was previously the founder and a principal in the firm of Neshannock Financial where he worked as an author, trainer and consultant.

Tavakol's promotion comes on the sixth anniversary of his arrival at Kamakura. He previoulsy held positions at risk management vendor Treasury Services Corporation, Fidelity Federal Bank, First Interstate Bank and Bank of America.

Both Matz and Tavakol have also been appointed members of Kamakura's managing committee.
