Nortel says the network is based on its Shasta 5000 Broadband Service Node (BSN) and Contivity Secure IP Services Gateways and provides the bank with a complete, all-in-one VPN and IPsec encrypted tunnelling solution.

Luis Marcos, Caixa Catalunya, comments: "The combination of Nortel Networks Shasta 5000 BSN and Contivity Secure IP Services Gateways has allowed us to meet our connectivity goals with a very high degree of security."

The system, which includes products from Nortels Unified Security Architecture, was installed in conjunction with the vendor's channel partner ITC.
