Sumitomo Trust & Banking Co (STBUSA) has commissioned Infonet to build a redundant IP-based wide area network for data communications between its offices in the US and Japan.
STBUSA selected Infonet to design and build the VPN, which interfaces to the company's primary network in Japan, after a five-month evaluation of competing suppliers.
Haruki Hasegawa, vice president of the corporate planning department for STBUSA says the network will be extended to other countries where appropriate: "Infonet's World Network gives us a comfort level - knowing that as we expand, Infonet has global coverage in the areas we are targeting for expansion."
