The bank says more than a million cheques have been viewed online since it rolled out the service nationwide this summer.

The cheque imaging service allows customers to retrieve, print and save digital pictures of the front and back of all cheques that have cleared their accounts and are listed in their last 75 online transactions.

Bank One has also announced the introduction of an e-mail alert service, notifying online customers of account changes.

Robert Ryder, manager of retail banking, Bank One in Louisiana, says: "We believe our new digital cheque images and our e-mail alerts programme, delivered via an easier-to-use site, are important achievements in our ongoing effort to enhance the bankone.com user experience."
