Conde joined the company in 1987 when SunGard acquired Devon Systems International, a business he co-founded. He went on to launch the SunGard Trading Systems division, which later became several operating groups.

Conde was appointed executive vice president in 1998, chief operating officer in 1999 and was elected president in March 2000.

Sixty-eight year old incumbent James Mann - who joined SunGard as chief operating officer when the company was created through a leveraged buyout in 1983 - will continue to serve as chairman of the board of directors.
