Bell ID and PinkRoccade partner for secure smart card management

Bell ID, a Netherlands-based security software house, and PinkRoccade, a provider of public key infrastructure solutions, have signed a partnership agreement to provide companies with a range of secure smart card services.

Under the agreement, PinkRoccade's secured infrastructure for setting up a multi-application smart card scheme will be integrated with Bell ID's ANDIS card and application management system (CMS/AMS).

The joint solution will allow organisations to outsource the larger part of the required technical architecture and maintenance, say the companies. The lifecycle management of cards, tokens, certificates and applications will remain with organisations by means of secured Web-based access to the system.

The service enables organisations to issue smart cards to (temporary) staff, customers, suppliers, visitors and other stakeholders with a range of applications activated on the cards. These include physical access control, PC or notebook log-on by means of smart card and PIN or biometrics. Other functions include secure access to Web sites, transactions via digital signature and electronic payments at venues such as cafeterias and petrol stations.
