Microsoft PFS bids to plug UK money drain

Microsoft has launched Money 2001, the latest version of its personal finance software package in the UK.

The launch comes on the back of an ICM survey which indicates that a third of people either never know how much money is in their bank account and/or end up going over the limit.

The Microsoft commissioned research shows 12.6 million people (28%) feel paying more careful attention to their budgets could save them £1000 or more. In addition, 7.2 million reckon that money worries keep them awake at night.

Gareth Arnold, head of personal finance for Microsoft says: “All our lives are getting busier and despite being the source of so much stress, paying bills and looking after our finances are all too often things that we put off until tomorrow, much to our cost. What we are trying to do is make this whole thing easier.”

The new version of Money 2001 features all the usual budgetting and planning software, plus facilities for electronic bill payment and chequebook balancing.
