The Canadian bank is implementing iPortal Suite as the software platform to support the integration of customer relationship management, enterprise resource planning and data-management applications including those running on the AIX, Solaris, Windows NT and IBM OS/390 computing platforms.

Utilising Iona's Orbix 2000 and iPortal OS/390 Server, BMO intends to develop a flexible, scalable platform that enables the aggregation of back-end applications and the development of new Web-based business processes. The bank has also chosen to establish Orbix 2000 as its standard middleware infrastructure.

Richard Cleaver, vice president of global information technology at Bank of Montreal, comments: "Iona's iPortal Suite provides a comprehensive approach to application integration and offers us the technology necessary to exploit future e-business opportunities."
