Euronet Worldwide and Giesecke & Devrient have entered a partnership to jointly deliver wireless electronic payment solutions to financial institutions.
Under the agreement, Euronet's electronic recharge, mobile banking and electronic bill payment solutions will be combined with G&D's SIM toolkit technology.
Euronet's and G&D's recharge solutions enable prepaid mobile airtime to be recharged electronically at a variety of customer touch points, including mobile phones, POS terminals, ATMs, and the Internet. Euronet Mobile Banking provides account access via a mobile device and event messaging, which allows customer-defined information to be delivered directly to customers' mobile phones. Euronet Bill Payment (EBP) enables registered users to be informed of bill payments due via short-message service.
G&D's StarSIM cards together with their SIM toolkit-based mobile banking application allow secure m-banking functions such as account balance, account statements and various transactions with multiple banks.
The two companies will co-market the combined product offering to their customers.
