Deutsche Bank has signed a letter of intent with Dresdner Bank's Allianz unit to merge its payment transaction banking operations in an attempt to cut costs, according to a report in financial broadsheet BoersenZeitung.
The BoersenZeitung report says talks between the two companies are still at a very early stage and full details of the 50:50 joint venture will be finalised over the next six months.
