Korean bank turns to Sybase for data warehousing

Korea's Jeonbuk Bank has selected business intelligence technology from Sybase to support its new enterprise data warehouse and total profit and performance management project.

The bank will deploy Sybase Adaptive Server IQ Multiplex, Adaptive Server Enterprise, DirectConnect and PowerDesigner for the system, to be launched in January 2003 across 75 branch offices throughout Korea.

Sybase Korea will provide professional services and support for the project through a consortium it has formed with domestic partners including Will-Be Solutions, a profit management solutions provider and nPlatform, an Internet business-consulting firm.

Jeonbuk Bank's planned EDW and profit and performance management project will allow the bank to collect customer-oriented data as well as analyse profit and loss, financial scenarios, organisational performance and utilisation of manpower.

Byung-Jin Oh, TFT manager of total profit management team of Jeonbuk Bank, says: "We selected Sybase business intelligence technology for the EDW because our existing system's performance could not cope with the large amount of data required for analysis."

"Additionally, we needed technology that would allow for ad-hoc queries that the existing system could not provide us," he adds.
