Since mid-2000, the bank has been setting up a network of trade centres around the world, offering clients advisory services and products for trade finance, export finance, foreign exchange and cash management.

Currently 50 trade centres are operational on all five continents, including 10 in France. The Paris trade centre will service 700 clients and has the highest potential in terms of number of transactions, believes BNP Paribas. The bank plans to have rolled out 70 trade centres by the end of 2002.

BNP Paribas marked the occassion with the official launch of Connexis Trade, described as a secure, user-friendly Internet portal that allows users to initiate common import-export transactions (such as letters of credit) online and to monitor them in real-time.
