Meridien estimates that over $1.7 billion will be spent over the next five years to implement applications for intra-firm processing of securities trading.

Damon Kovelsky, analyst at Meridien Research, comments: "Even though implementations of order management systems are costly, the mid-term cost savings that will come out of it will be well worth the short term expenditures. In addition, firms that make these investments will be that much closer to achieving straight-through processing."
