Dublin-based wireless technology provider Macalla Software has signed a partnership with Sun Microsystems to develop mobile commerce solutions.
Macalla's offering is a next-generation open and modular software platform for the secure delivery of information and transaction systems via multiple channels.
Macalla and Sun have already combined their technology for Dutch retail bank Postbank and mobile network operator Telfort. In these cases, Macalla's Mobile Commerce Platform ran on Sun's Enterprise 10000 servers and Solaris operating environment.
Niall O'Cleirigh, chief executive officer for Macalla, says: "This alliance, backed up by the reputation we have with Sun, will give Macalla increased exposure to potential customers among Sun's banking and mobile operator sectors."
He says the agreement is a natural evolution in the relationship between the two organisations.
