Oberthur Card Systems has given its backing to the Card and Application Life Cycle (Calc) specifications designed by Proton World as part of its new generation R4 technology.

Calc is Proton World's implementation of the Open Platform specifications, which secures and maintains the lifecycle and functionality of compliant multi-application chip cards.

Oberthur intends to integrate the Calc specifications in its Java-based multi-application platforms, and also in its range of personalisation and card management services.
