Reuters sets up Asian business service centre

Reuters has set up an Asian business service centre (BSC) in Singapore to deliver financial transaction activities and support services to the company's business units and offices operating in the region.

The Singapore-based BSC will manage transaction processes such as project accounting, accounts payables and receivables and cash management and at the same time produce information for business analysis and improve processes and internal controls, says the company.

It will cover Reuters businesses in Japan, Greater China, Australia and Singapore, with the aim of serving all of Reuters business units in Asia by 2002. The operation is to be headed by Jodi Lambeth and has employed a pool of 33 staff.

Reuters BSC in Singapore is one of the company's four major global business services hubs, of which the other three are based in London, New York and Amsterdam. The hubs are part of Reuters' aim to create a customer-focused culture based on centralising finance and business processing functions for streamlined management.
