UK bank NatWest has teamed up with a social mobility charity to launch a digital and innovation apprentice programme.
Working with Leadership Through Sport & Business (LTSB), the bank invited applicants from communities across several London boroughs to take part in a month-long boot camp in September, where they were assessed on their decision-making and influencing traits and digital skills.
NatWest picked 10 successful candidates, who will, from November, undertake a four-year paid apprenticeship working across the NatWest Ventures and digital teams and simultaneously complete a fully funded degree.
NatWest Head of Ventures, Andy Ellis, say: "This programme is about helping young adults in the communities we work in - who otherwise may have been overlooked in traditional application processes - reach their potential."
NatWest isn't the only bank looking to broaden its talent search; last month Banco Santander said it will offer school leavers across the country the opportunity to apply for a Data Science Apprenticeship.
