'Black Box for Identrus Members' offers trading partners a low-cost, easy-to-implement solution to conduct secure electronic transactions over the Internet. All components of the package, comprising a Java Card, a (PC/SC) card reader and tailorable-client software, have been certified Identrus compliant.

Marc Bertin, head of e-business and network security for Oberthur Card Systems, comments: "To date, the Identrus system is the strongest case we have for proving the importance of the smart card in the role of securing online access and network security. Achieving Identrus compliance is the best reference we can gain in B2B e-commerce for the smart technology in which we specialise."

Identrus, founded in April 1999, is creating a worldwide network of trusted financial institutions to ensure a trading partner's identity. Companies can use the Identrus infrastructure to conclusively identify one another through their financial institutions, ensure their communications are secure, and create an indisputable record of their transactions.
