Ripple has pumped $25 million in the form of its XRP cryptocurrency into Blockchain Capital's latest $150 million fund.
Ripple says that it hopes the investment - its first contribution to a fund - will allow it to develop inroads with entrepreneurs and companies focused on various blockchain use-cases, including those that use the XRP Ledger and Interledger Protocol.
The XRP funds have been put into a separate special purpose vehicle for cryptocurrencies "to separate our other LPs from the risk of any change in valuation associated with accepting Ripple’s investment in XRP," a Blockchain Capital spokesperson told Fortune.
Patrick Griffin, SVP, strategic growth, Ripple: "This is the first fund that we’ve contributed to, and it won’t be the last. We plan to be major players in shaping the future generation of blockchain or crypto companies."
