Deutsche Bank is looking to keep in touch with its Chinese-speaking customers by jumping onto WeChat, the social media giant with nearly a billion active users.
Lauding the channel, Deutsche Bank calls WeChat a mix of WhatsApp, Facebook, Twitter, Skype, Yelp and Apple Pay, helping it to push China towards a cashless society.
Half of WeChat's 980 million active users are on the app for more than 90 minutes a day, sending messages, participating in chat groups, transferring money, paying bills, shopping online or reading news.
And, from now on, they will also be able to read about Deutsche Bank, which will regularly publish macroeconomic views, feature interviews, business updates and event information.
"The WeChat channel will help us promote the bank's outlooks, strategies and successes among our Chinese-speaking stakeholders, who are increasingly using the app to access information", says Feng Gao, chief country officer, China.
