Hellenic Bank is to market a new range of water-resistant NFC wristbands to sun-worshipping Cypriots, removing the hassle for customers of carrying cards and cash to the beach or poolside.

Supplied by Gemalto, the black silicone payment wristbands feature an embedded Visa applet and links seamlessly to the user's Hellenic Bank debit or credit card account.

Cyprus was recently named in Visa's 'Top 8' for contactless terminal penetration in Europe with over 50% of the country's POS terminals capable of accepting tap and pay transactions.
