Part of Square's customer engagement suite of tools, the new feature means that Facebook Ads results and Square sales data are integrated, meaning that the marketing spend can be linked to actual sales, enabling firms to "understand exactly what your customers respond to," says a blog.

The new feature was built with LocBox, a marketing startup bought by Square a few months ago and will be rolled out to other social channels in the next few weeks. Square will make subscription fees from the service.

Square says that one customer - Big Daddy’s Catfish and Seafood of Lake Park, Georgia - recently drove more than $400 in sales from just $10 in Facebook Ads. "I reached new customers that I hadn’t reached before and definitely saw a sales increase," says owner Joshua Allen.

After beginning life as an mPOS service enabling small businesses to accept card payments, Square has tried hard over recent years to diversify, becoming a one-stop-shop for all its clients' needs. The company already offers inventory management, invoicing, analytics, capital financing and payroll services.
