A second teenager has been arrested in connection with the investigation into the hack on mobile operator TalkTalk, which put millions of customers' banking details at risk.
A 16 year old boy was arrested after police raided his home in Feltham, London. He has since been bailed. Police have also searched a residential address in Liverpool, although no further arrests have been made so far.
Earlier this week a 15 year old boy from County Antrim in Northern Ireland was arrested by officers from the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI). A joint investigation by the PSNI and the Met Police's Cyber Crime Unit is ongoing.
Meanwhile TalkTalk has faced criticism from consumer groups over its reluctance to grant compensation to compromised customers. The mobile operator has argued that because full credit and debit card details had not been stolen, bank accounts would only become vulnerable if criminals targeted individuals seeking further information. TalkTalk stated that it would consider compensation on a "case-by-case basis" and only if money was stolen "as a direct result of the cyber attack".
