The bank is working with specialist outfit Freeformers on the free Upload Live event for 16 to 25 year olds, which will take place in Manchester on 13th June.

More than 100 places are available for people interested in learning to code, build websites and apps, learn social media skills and get to grips with security issues.

Freeformers works with big firms, including Barclays, to boost the digital skills of employees. For every corporate client it trains, the outfit then commits to help one young person for free.

Barclays also has its own Digital Eagles programme, committing 12,000 staffers to help customers acquire the skills needed in an online, mobile world through its Web-based and in-branch 'Code Playground'.
