UBS has devised a novel way of weeding out unsuitable candidates for roles at its new London innovation lab: tweeting a cryptic message that sends job seekers on a hunt to the blockchain.

Alex Batlin from the Swiss bank's technology, innovation, research and development team posted the tweet yesterday:


As noted by Financial News, which first spotted the missive, once decrypted the simple code invited readers to "search for a challenge at UBS on the blockchain".

On the blockchain was another message providing Batlin's email address for those interested in roles as smart contract developers.

UBS confirmed to Financial News that the advert relates to positions at its Canary Wharf innovation lab, which is exploring the role of blockchain technology and smart contracts in financial services.
