Google is rolling out a car insurance comparison site in California, with more states to follow.
Google Compare for car insurance features policies from 14 insurers, enabling users to search for and buy top-ranked contracts online or over the phone.
As the aggregation site is rolled out to more states it is expected to attract a larger pool of quotes and add new features such as ratings and reviews, as well as local agent support for providers with agent networks. Participation is based on a flexible cost-per-acquisition (CPA) model, says the company, insisting that payment isn’t a factor in ranking or eligibility.
The search engine giant already offers a similar service in the UK, and it is expected that the US offering will be expanded gradually to incorporate information on credit cards, savings accounts and other financial products.
