Founded in 2011, Helsinki-based Holvi provides basic current account services as well as money management, payments and invoicing tools for SMEs.

Having established itself at home, the bank is now setting its sights on the wider European market after receiving regulatory approval earlier this year to operate across the EU.

The startup has already made moves into Austria and is now set to pilot its services in Ireland from next month, with a full launch by the end of the year.

According to the Irish Times, Thomas O'Reilly, who led mPOS firm SumUp in Ireland until it withdrew from country earlier this year, will be Holvi's country manager.
