The telco and bank are working with Giesecke & Devrient to deliver the service, which will be applicable at more than 200,000 eftpos terminals in retail outlets across the country.

G&D is supplying the SIM cards with secure storage for the payment software, as well as the SmartTrust Portigo mobile wallet for smartphones, which contains sensitive customer information such as credit/debit card numbers and account details. The wallet can additionally store third party identity and loyalty cards.

The German firm is also providing the Trusted Service Manager (TSM) utility to both Bradesco and Claro.

The Claro branded mobile wallet can be downloaded from the Google's Play Store. The G&D TSM uses Claro's mobile network to securely transmit Bradesco account holders' payment card information to the secure element on their SIM card.
