IZettle's mPOS system comprises an app and reader which attaches to a mobile phone to enable merchants to accept card payments.

The new, free, SDK means that retailers can now bypass the iZettle app, instead connecting their own to the card reader for taking payments. All of the relevant information is sent to the merchant app for generating receipts, as well as any associated systems such as inventory control, accounting and customer relationship management.

Available in the nine countries in which iZettle operates, the SDK is initially only for iOS apps, although the service will come to Android later this year.

Zeryab Cheema, CEO, Taxi 24/7, which has been testing the SDK, says: "Customers increasingly use our app to book their journeys and the recent addition of a payment option thanks to the iZettle SDK has really helped boost customer satisfaction and repeat business."
