To check their balance on the small LCD screen, users enter their PIN using a mini-keypad on the card, which has been manufactured by NagraID Security.

The contactless card, which has a battery with a three year life, can also be used to generate one-time pass-codes for online banking services.

Getin says that having initially produced 12,000 cards it soon ran out, despite charging customers for the privilege. Customers with the card also carry out more and bigger transactions.

The bank is now planning to improve the display's quality so that it can be used for letters as well as numbers enabling more features such as personalised promotions and exchange rate data.

Clever - I wonder how often (& how) the balance gets updated?

I would imagine that each time the card is used the account balance is updated.

I wonder if the card can be used with any POS device for this functionality to work or do the terminals need to have been updated beforehand.

Anyone know who manurfactures these cards?
