A power outage at payments processor Tsys caused Visa's network in Canada to go down Monday, leaving customers throughout the country unable to use their cards.
A Visa spokeswoman told the Canadian Press that the power disruption at a Tsys data centre was to blame for the problem.
The outage affected Royal Bank of Canada, TD Canada Trust and CIBC customers, among others, but appeared to have been fixed by Monday night.
