From next month, ASB customers who have the bank's Android or iOS app will be able to transfer money to Facebook friends without entering their account details. Recipients do not need to be ASB customers.

Anna Curzon, GM, brand experience and digital channels, ASB, says: "We know from talking to our customers that they are seeking out quicker, more convenient, and safer ways to make payments that reflect their lifestyle. The next step in this evolution is being able to seamlessly make payments from their smartphone, using Facebook as a channel."

The upgraded app will also let users download and register it on more than one device as the bank looks to cater to the increasing number of people with both phones and tablets.
