The new version of the app deals with a number of user grumbles about limiting features in the earlier iteration.

Users can now register additional phone numbers for the same linked current account and sign up for joint account registration. Barclays customers can also view current account transactions alongside Pingit transactions, while non bank customers can for the first time get a view of all Pingit transactions.

On the corporate side, Barclays is removing the cap on payments that business customers can receive and making it available to customers with more than one signatory on the account. QR code scanning has also been incorporated to accommodate direct data entry to the Pingit payment screen.

The new functionality comes shortly after Barclays opened access to the app to customers from other banks. Last week, the bank marked the three month anniversary of the release of Pingit by reaching a milestone figure of 500,000 downloads.
