The Microsoft .NET Platform is designed to enable the development and orchestration of any group of XML Web services and applications into a single, integrated solution.

The collaborators say they are working to port a number of SunGard applications to Xeon processor-based systems, as well as Itanium-based systems. The initiative follows on from last year's development of SunGard's 64-bit Panorama trading and risk management application for Itanium-based systems.

Mack Gill, director, global alliances, SunGard says: "By collaborating with Microsoft and Intel, we are well-positioned to deliver next generation of XML Web service solutions."
