UK fintech vendor Misys has opened a centre of excellence in Beijing as its focus increasingly turns to China and the wider Asia Pacific region.
Over half of Misys 4000 employees are now based in Asia, serving nearly 400 customers in the region.
In China alone, the firm has doubled the number of people it employees over the last year and plans to grow this to 300 in the next 12 months to support a client base of 40, including major players such as Agricultural Bank of China, Bank of Communications and Bank of China.
The Beijing centre of excellence, the sixth of its kind, will help Misys design and develop technology to address local market requirements, says the vendor, which is also introducing a graduate programme at the site.
Mike Lawrie, CEO, Misys, says: "The opening of our new centre of excellence in Beijing is extremely exciting as it reinforces our long-standing commitment to R&D and means that we can take our local investment and market knowledge to serve Chinese and international banks more effectively in the country."
