French second division club Dax saw its fansite, allezdax.com, go down for two weeks thanks to the attack. The site, which averages 700 visits a day, was overwhelmed by 80,000 hits.

A site administrator told the France Bleu Gascogne radio station that the attackers "insulted us copiously in German", thinking the site was related to the Dax stock market index.

"After undergoing an attack hit by a pimply young Teuton, the site is back with more security," says a defiant statement.
