PayPal has inked a deal with Brazilian mobile phone service provider Vivo, enabling subscribers to send payments for airtime, goods and services using their handsets.

Currently, Brazilian mobile phone subscribers need to enter a physical store or go online to add airtime minutes, says the eBay unit.

From early next year Vivo subscribers with GSM operating handset will be able to carry out the process through their phone, without having to download any software of applications.

The partnership also means that subscribers can make purchases with their phones at PayPal's eight million merchants around the world.
