UBank, the direct arm of Australia's NAB, has appointed its head of strategy Alex Twigg as general manager.
Twigg replaces Gerd Schenkel who left the organisation in May, since when the new boss has been acting GM. According to Australian trade mag Banking Review Media, another potential candidate, head of online at UBank, Monty Hamilton, quit last month.
A twenty year retail banking veteran, Brit Twigg worked for NatWest and Coventry Building Society before helping to build UK direct bank Egg, where he held the position of head of technology between 2002 and 2004.
He moved to NAB in 2008 as head of delivery and operations at UBank to manage the launch and development of the unit before taking on the role of general manger, direct banking, strategy and transformation for NAB in February.
UBank is set to be caught up in NAB's personal banking shake-up, brought together with the nabbroker and Advantedge businesses to form a "challenger" group, says Banking Review Media.
