According to AP, a group called the People's Army of the Fourth Awakening contacted a local TV station last week to claim it has downloaded the documents from the state revenue service.

A member of the group using the alias "Neo", who is believed to be based in Britain, has begun passing on details relating to management salaries at companies and public institutions to the station via Twitter, says the BBC.

According to the documents, management at a Latvian bank that recently received bail out money, have not taken the pay cuts they promised at the time.

Latvia has been devastated by the global financial crisis, with unemployment running at 23% and many of those still in work forced to take pay cuts of up to 50%.

Local TV presenter, Ilze Nagla told the BBC that by revealing the pay details of the management class, "Neo" has attained cult status as a "virtual Robin Hood".
